On February 16th-18th, 2023, the 2022 China Annual Conference & Exposition for International Education (CACIE) was held in Beijing, which was hosted by the China Education Association for International Exchange. Chen Jinjun, director of the GDOU International Office, has participated in the conference, with Yang Li, section chief of Intl. Staff & Student Services and Deng Zhuhong, section chief of Exchanges & Cooperation going along.
Themed on Adaption and Transformation—Reshaping Education, the conference conducted close to 40 parallel forums, more than 10 multilateral fairs and branding promotion, and 5 themed exhibitions both on-site and online. Huai Jinpeng, minister of the Ministry of Education, P.R. China, delivered his speech titled Advancinging the Sustainable Development of Global Education through Educational Reform. And such Chinese and foreign invitees as Wang Shuguo, President of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Gao Song, President of Sun Yat-Sen University, Peter-Andre Alt, President of German Rectors’ Conference, and Hugh Brady, President of Imperial College London, made keynote speeches.
In the parallel session, the seminar on educational innovation in high-level Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools at the collegiate level and above discussed hot issues, including reshaping educational philosophy of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools, innovating educational and teaching practices, policies in international cooperation and exchanges, and quality assurance of Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools. Items discussed contain new needs for internationalized talents in the digital era, how education meets the new needs for personnel training by conducting international cooperation and improving internationalization, and better sustains the new modes of international education and practices in personnel training in the new era. The seminar on a complex and volatile international environment and international exchange of students introduced the current situation of international exchange of students and the adjustment of internationalization strategies of different universities from various countries, and discussed and shared how to face the challenges made by the new landscape from the strategic and operational perspective, including how to increase recognition and fame at home and abroad through international cooperation, and new measures and mechanisms in the face of new challenges and demands. The seminar on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) international education exchange invited representatives and educational experts from African Union, ASEAN, and South America to share experience and ideas of the BRI educational cooperation and platform development, and thinking and suggestion of the further development of BRI international education exchange, and to make discussion over the new start point and development of the BRI educational exchange in the new international climate. The Forum of Internationalized Personnel Training Innovation and Development invited academic staff from the Chinese governments, colleges and universities at home and abroad, private think tanks, and the press to discuss how to develop China’s internationalized personnel training in an innovative manner in terms of such items as improving the lifelong learning system and promoting comprehensive development of mankind, advancing reform of foreign languages teaching and building a diversified higher education system, reshaping major changes in international education and innovating science and technology, increasing global competitiveness and shaping an enabling climate for internationalized personnel training.
During the conference, GDOU established ties in such fields as discipline development, personnel training, staff exchange, sci-tech innovation, Chinese-foreign cooperation in running schools, and social services with relevant universities, and international education alliances and platforms, forming an efficient network of resources and making wider room for further internationalization development.
